Baby Teeth – Can breast or bottle feeding cause teeth problems?

I have experienced and seen many a teeth problem in babies and toddlers caused by bottle feeding, dummies and yes breast feeding too! My own personal experience was watching my little girl develop a terrible over bite from her dummy. It was the straw that broke this mummy’s back – I loved the dummy, it helped soothe my little girl, it helped her sleep, I think I needed it more than her. So selfishly I was in no hurry to say goodbye to her dummy, until one morning when she was 3 (yes I am embarrassed), when I saw her …

Mummy Judgers

They’re everywhere, and you may be one, and I have to admit I sometimes am one too – a Mummy Judger. What exactly is a mummy judger you may be thinking – well it’s a parent (mostly mothers or grandmothers) that can make you feel guilty with just one look. An example of this is when you’re doing the supermarket shopping, you have a baby attached to you in a sling, a toddler in the trolley seat and another child beside you – everyone is tired and grumpy – your child (one or all three) start to lose it – …

Sushi Nori Rolls

I often wished I owned a Sushi-Sushi franchise as every time I go to a shopping centre these places are hopping mad – and the great thing is that most kids love nori rolls! You can start your baby on them as soon as they have the teeth to get through the seaweed outer, or simply peel it off.  Best not to throw them in the deep end of the raw fish though and opt for the cooked tuna or omelette varieties. Did you know they are super simple to make yourself and can make a great lunch box item …

Double Pumping – Expressing for breast feeding with both breasts.

I used a double electric pump for both my babies, and both times it helped so much. With my first baby, I couldn’t get breast feeding established, my baby was losing weight and it was recommended I hire a double electric pump to keep my supply up as well as increase it. My second baby took to breast feeding like a maniac, but left me with severely cracked and bleeding nipples. After she vomited up blood, my health nurse recommended I give my nipples time to heal, the double pump kept up my supply, and allowed my nipples and milk …

Ban Coke for Children!

I don’t allow my children to have Coke – I’m not popular, and by no means perfect in any way but it’s the one thing that I have stuck by and am so proud of. Don’t get me wrong I love a Diet Coke, but allowing my children to have a shot of caffeine and chemicals in the form of a coke scares the living daylights out of me. I know how a swig of Diet Coke makes me feel, it quickens my pulse and gives me a buzz and strangely makes me want more – imagine what this would …
