Weaning or Refusing the Breast

When my baby started to refuse my breast, I panicked, it wasn’t time for her to decide she didn’t want to feed anymore! I loved feeding my daughter, it was so very special, even though I had trouble at the start and I wasn’t able to feed my older son, breastfeeding was wonderful with my daughter. So when she started to push away my breast and try to get herself up to see what was going on, usually with her older brother, I wasn’t ready for her to stop feeding. She was still having three breastfeeds a day with meals, …

The Very Hungry Caterpillar Cake Topper Tutorial

Today I’m going to show you how to make the gorgeous caterpillar cake topper that was featured on the cake at Zoe’s Very Hungry Caterpillar Party. I will preface this tutorial by saying that with all the fondant I’m using I have mixed in some tylose powder (1/2 teaspoon to 250g of fondant) so that the caterpillar will dry hard. I also suggest making this as early in advance as possible (I made mine a week beforehand). Begin with shaping some red coloured fondant (I buy the premixed red colour… the cake art brand),  and then shape into a curved …

Rollover Feed

I swore by a rollover feed for my first baby – especially as he started to sleep through the night at 10 weeks! I was very lucky I know, sleep is something we all dream of with new babies and sleeping through is the Ultimate! I learnt about rollover feeds through a routine and sleep class I did. I was mad for routine and structure with my first, and for my son this all worked really well. But with my daughter a rollover feed had no effect – she never slept through! Both my children have completely opposite personalities and …

My baby was choking and I panicked!

One of the most heart stopping, frightening times in my life was when my son was 10 months old and he couldn’t breathe – he was choking! I did the worst thing any parent could do – I panicked! Thank goodness my husband was home at the time and he took control while I was screaming and shrieking around the house like a maniac. Time stood still and seconds seemed like minutes, my little boy’s airway was blocked and he was suffering – I don’t know how or why (nor does my husband) maybe it was human instinct, but my …
